Annoyed!

This is a major vent. My OB sent me to a Dermotoligist this past week for a terrible rash I have all over my body. I went waited over an hour for the Dermotoligist to tell me nothing they could do until after the pregnancy. She also said it will most likely go away once I deliver. She wants me to follow up once a month until delivery. I don't quite get why considering she did nothing! $25.00 copayment each time for nothing! Not to mention my time.

Today my OB office calls after the pharmacy called them for a refil on my b12 and tells me the OB wants me to see a gastroenterologist for my vitamin issue. They scheduled my appointment for a day I'm in class. I will have a $25.00 copayment. My issues are all under control. I don't see the need to see this Dr. All I need is the refil for the vitamin. Every other dr I have seen through pregnancy always tells me to refer back to OB.

I am annoyed that they keep referring me out when I don't feel the need to do so and the dr I am referred to refers me back to OB.

So now I am waiting for the OB to call me back so I can discuss this with them. Arghh not what I wanted to deal with today. Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Annoyed!

  • This sounds a little silly. If the derm cannot help you why see you till the end of the pregnancy? I would ask him why and call his bull5hit. Don't waste your time. My sister gets funny rashes for varius reasons - sweat, detergent, food. She discovered that taking a bath in the Aveeno Oats powder and washing herself with an organic body wash helps. She is not pregnant, but you migrht as well try it. As for B12 why do you need a prescription for it? Can't you buy it at the vitamin store? Doesn't your prenatal pill have like 300% daily value of it? I feel like all these docs are using the fact that you are pregnant and scaring you into a whole lot of unnecessary visits because they know you will say no. I hope they leaveq you alone.
  • I need a prescription for the b12 because I do it as injections. I have celiac disease and my body isn't absorbing it in pill form but does great with the injection.

Unfortently I cannot use aveno because it is not gluten free and will irrate my skin more. Bummer!

I talked to my dad about all of this and he thinks they are being overly cautious because I am in law school and they are worried about potential law suits. I'm seeing the OB I really like on Tuesday and going to discuss all of this with her.

    Thanks for the ideas!

You could try Burt's Bees products. They have a good selection of produces and most of them I believe are gluten free.

Sorry you are have troubles with you doctors. Other then the health complications how are you feeling? Are you starting to get Lawson's room ready?

  • Oh man, that really sucks. I hope you can figure out some better solutions. Maybe try finding a sulfur soap. Not sure where you could get it in the US but there must be a place. The water in our well in Poland had sulfur in it and my parents were selling it to people who had eczema. Since I moved to US I was able to buy a soap at a polish herbal store.

Im feeling great! So excited to be in double digits!!! His room has all the furniture. I haven't gotten his bedding yet though. His closet is full! It's getting to be do real now! We bought his carseat this week so that was a huge thing. Thanks for asking!

  • That's a bummer that you are having so many problems with the doctors.  I definitely vote that you don't go to the derm unless they have an actual reason to see you!

But it's exciting that you have so much ready for Lawson!  You are only due a couple of weeks ahead of me, but you are so far past us!  :)  I can't wait to get more done in Lucia's room!
