Re: Clicky: Baptize LO

  • I chose no because I would like to let our future child decide when he/she wanted to be baptized.

FYI I think this option should be added because there are Christian denominations (like Baptist) that don't baptize babies, but that doesn't mean the person voting doesn't believe in baptism.

This exactly. My family is Church of Christ and as far as I know they don't baptize infants.

  • h says he wants to baptize our kids "just in case". i'm against it because i don't believe in "just in case".....if he wants our kids to be religious, he needs to show an effort by going to church (which he doesn't). i don't want them to be put into a religion that we don't practice.

Good point.  I thought about this, but I thought no one would pick this option.  I didn't know that was how some religions did it.

  • I have a major issues with infant/child baptism, baptism has such a major symbolism behind it, no one should have to do it without their own consent.  If any kids of mine want to get baptized I would rather they wait until they are 18+ and are doing it for themselves.  I'm not baptized, and never plan to be, but if my adult children choose to do the religious thing I would support their decision.
