I'd love to hear others experience with the ending of an interview...how do you ask for their contact information to follow up and what has been your experience like? what kind of responses have you been getting? I'd specifically like to hear about panel interviews..(ex. you being interviewed by 3 people).
Most of the interviews I've been invited to in the last 9 months have been panel interviews. I've been thanking them for their time and casually saying something like "i'd love to have your contact information to keep in touch/follow up with you..."
In my last interview, two people said they didn't have business cards and one wrote down her phone number for me on my notepad. This turned out to be a problem because the two who didn't have business cards only introduced themselves by their first names and I made the mistake of not asking their last names (my brain was busy with the interview) and thus didn't send them individual TY cards (I thanked them by their first name in the main interviewer's TY note). I was beating myself up for forgetting to get their last names the minute I got to my car from the interview... I want to do it right the next time so I thought I ask...
previous to this experience, I've been given an interview schedule with the people's full name and titles prior to the actual interview...and people have been very good at giving me their business cards at the end of the interview...
I'd love to hear your experience. Thank you!
Re: interview question -asking for their contact information
When they ask if I have any additional questions, I usually ask for their info. If they don't ask, at the end of the interview I ask for the information "just in case" I have any questions regarding the position, or the company. People usually give it out no problem.
