Ok...today is day 12 of my hospital stay. I might get released today::crosses fingers::. My blood pressure is a little better but I am on some serious meds because of it. I feel like a 32 year old trapped in an 80 year olds body. They started me on lasix 3 days ago and since than I have lost 15 lbs!!!! I look at my hands and I think I might be able to put my wedding rings back on.
As much as I am ready to leave this joint, I hate leaving at the same time. Our little guy is still on cpap and they may be taking him off that today. I stayed with him last night for a while and he was so peaceful lying there. He is tolerating all the tubes pretty good. He likes to stretch alot and sometimes his hand gets caught on his ng tube and he pulls it out. No big deal, they put it back in very easily.
As of last night they were feeding him 12cc each feeding which is being increased by 3cc every other feeding until he gets to 30cc which is 2oz. He did loose some of his weight and is down to 4lbs. He is such a tiny sweet little guy.
I can hear him cry now and he has the sweetest little raspy cry. I also got to hold him the other night for about 5 minutes. The nurses that night were very nice and willing to go through the efforts of moving him onto my chest. It was wonderful. Unfortunitly it got interupted because the nicu was informed of a new admit they were going to get.
So, we are hoping that Maddox can take that step today. After he gets off the cpap it is still a waiting game on when he will come home. He needs to master the skill of suck, swallow and breath at the same time. I am praying he gets that down quickly. I want my little peanut home with me...even though I am gonna be terrified of this little guy once he comes home.
Re: Still here.....
Glad to hear you and Maddox are doing better! I know how you feel with him being in the NICU and the idea of you having to leave him when you get released. Just trust in the fact that he is in really good hands, getting the best care that he can get right now!
I hope he gets to come home with you soon!
Very good to hear that you are doing better! Sending prayers that Maddox gets to come home soon also! Those little guys grow fast! My friend's baby that was born 11 weeks early and 2 lbs. now weighs more than my 10 month old and he is 8 months! They are pretty strong little buggers.
Nice NICU nurses are the best. I actually cried when we left the NICU, because we were leaving and because I had made some friendships with some nurses who had encouraged me a long the way. Praying for you and your little guy
*Did they give him any suffactant for his lungs?
It's good to hear things are getting better. I am glad that everyone is making steps in the right direction. I am sure you and your little guy will be settled in at home in no time.
Yay and yay...again! I can't wait to see you guys. You better send me some pictures of his cute little face without the CPAP!
Love you guys!
Im so glad the BP is better. I didnt read this under after I sent the other. Im so glad your home and I hope you had an awesome visit tonight.
Hes proven hes a tuff cookie just like his Mom. He will be home in no time.
OMG! Deb, congrats! He is so adorable... I was born 2 weeks late, and only weighted 5lbs, 10 oz.... my dad could literally hold me in the palms of his hands.... i was that tiny--it scared the living day light out of him!
My girlfriend had blood pressure problems during her first--just let your body take it's course, and of course it's always nice to loose a little weight--that fast!
congrats again, and good luck with the next few weeks!
