apple care+ or squaretrade?
I am thinking of getting a protection plan for my 4s and can't decide between the two. Any opinions?
Re: apple care+ or squaretrade?
What's AppleCare+? I googled it but only the regular Apple Care came up.
Regular AppleCare only extends the manufacturer warranty to 2 years instead of the 1. It doesn't protect you for accidental damage or theft.
Do you have AT&T? If so, they have an insurance you can buy for $5.99 a month for any kind of damage or theft and it's a $199 replacement fee.
I looked at SquareTrade's app on iTunes and they have just a $50 deductible. That's awesome. The only downside is they don't cover theft or loss.
I wonder if there is another company that does.
I have verizon. Applecare plus is new and it covers damages also.

I Finally found the + earlier this morning. Thanks for the link. SquareTrade is a crappy option upon further searching. If you have the smallest iPhone and insure it you begin with $649. If you shatter your screen say you pay $250 for it. Now, if you drop it in water and it's a complete loss they'll only give you $399.
With AppleCare+ you get up to 2 replacements. They don't deal with an exact dollar amount. Also, you don't deal with a middle man. You go directly to Apple.
I also found that if SquareTrade does work on your phone such as a screen replacement that it voids your Apple warranty.
I wanted to add, if you already have your new phone in hand and you didn't buy AppleCare+ at the time of purchase that you will need to buy it by 11/14/11.
Apple extended the purchase of warranty until 11/14/11 for those of us who weren't made aware of AppleCare+ when buying from an AT&T, Verizon or Sprint store.
I agree. I called Apple today to add the Apple Care + but they had a long wait b/c their systems were down and they had a long queue. They said tomorrow afternoon they'll probably not have a wait time.
