I have no idea what any of you are talking about, other than The Chronicles of Narnia.  I tried to read Harry Potter once, and it just bored me to tears.  I can't get into it.  Haven't seen any of the movies either.

Madeline L'Engle was awesome. And not all of her stuff is scifi, either--all the Austins books were totally non scifi.

I think that was the year it really hit the US.  1999 or 2000.  I may have been 17 then.

 

Well then that just makes me old.  I think I was already in law school when HP came out.

I love HP and the Twilight books. They're like brain candy.   But I'm also reading Grapes of Wrath right now, so I hope that redeems myself somewhat.

 Don't be ashamed. I think there are probably 10 people in the entire world who didn't read HP.

I would like to say that I have never read HP nor do I have any desire to read HP. It's (1) a children's book and (2) about fantasy. Neither of these genres hold any sway with me.

Also, I have never heard of Twilight, but it also sounds like something I would ignore. 

Sorry to sound so elitist. But it's really hard to be a book lover in an era of HP obsessive-mania.
