Pots and Pans

It's time for us to look for new ones. Anyone have any advice on ones they love or hate or what to stay away from. We've had our current set for 10 years so it's been a while since I've looked.

  • I have some Rachel Ray ones that I love.  Most are non-dishwasher recommended, but I got used to it and they clean up so easily.
  • Cast iron!  You'll never go back.  If you enjoy cooking, these deliver on a whole new level.  I use Le Creuset, but you can find lower-cost versions that still have the enamel coating (I did not pay for these - $$$!! - I won them through a work competition).  I have a 5.5 qt dutch oven w/lid, a 3 qt saucepan w/lid, and a skillet.  Those 3 items cover everything we need, and I cook every single meal from scratch at home!

  • We got a set of Cuisinart for our wedding. I researched online and these seemed like a good set for not a ton of money. Ours are the nonstick hard anodized (sp?) set. So not the stainless steal. I love them. They are super easy to clean and have help up well. I don't put mine in the dishwasher so they last longer.
  • I have a set by Emeril from BB&B that we got as a wedding gift. I like them, but I recently bought an open stock non-stick skillet (Cuisinart I think) that I prefer for some things. You might check TJ Maxx for open stock stuff - you can pick the pieces you actually want vs. buying a set?
