  • Oh wow! I love the fabrics you used...it turned out fantastic!
  • I've heard that her bag patterns are quite involved!  It came out beautiful though and I'm sure your Mom will love it.
  • That's awesome! It came out great!  I have that book but I haven't made anything from it yet - my craft to-do list is WAY too long already!

ohhhhh....pretty!!! How long did it take you? Any tips for someone attempting the same pattern?

It took me 3 mornings to cut the fabric (not the entire morning...maybe a few hours) and to sew, it took me an all-nighter (from about 8pm-2am!) plus a few hours the next afternoon. I was visiting my mom on Saturday so I had to finish by Friday night.

I think the most important thing is to cut the pattern pieces accurately. When I rushed the cutting on some of the pieces, I had trouble matching them up while sewing later. So really take the time to cut everything out as best as you can. I don't know why I was so inaccurate with some of the pieces...I guess I just rushed it.

There are also lots of pattern pieces and interfacing for almost all of the pieces. I would label them as you cut...I kept getting mixed up! And write out a list of everything you need to cut (unless you don't mind writing in your book) and check them off as you go.

My blog post (link above) has some links to other blogs that have made the bag. They have lots of advice that was really useful to me too.

If my mom didn't like the bag so much, I probably would not have made anything from this book either (for the same reason as you!).

  • Thank you so much ladies for all your kind comments about the bag!
  • Wow, it's beautiful!

I love it, I might have to attempt one myself.
