Your new year plans sound fabulous, it's something we've been wanting to do for years (but for christmas). Would you mind sharing details of the where/how to rent a great place in Scotland?

Re: **PittPurple**

  • Hi Valerie!

It's seriously great fun. Sadly, there's no easy way to find a place. We tend to figure out how many people are in and how much they'll spend and then work out how much we can spend (it's usually ?500 a couple or thereabouts). Places book up far earlier than you'd think, we booked our place in August and a ton were already taken that we liked the look of.

Honestly, we google various combinations of 'large, holiday, christmas, home, scotland, castle, rental' and see what we can find. we've ended up booking through a different website each year. there are options on http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/ and http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/ as well to get you started.

Christmas and NY week are the most expensive time of year to rent a place in Scotland, tons of people do it and places can charge anything really. We tend to have some requirements about location or number of bathrooms or something ilke that that makes it more complicated but it's always so, so much fun it's totally worth it. Last year we rented a castle, it was seriously amazing.

Let me know if you need any more specific help!
