weekly book post

Hey girls,

What is everyone reading this week? I am reading The Wildwater Walking Club by Claire Cook. I really like it.  It was a little slow at first. I read another book of Claire Cook's in 2008 and liked it.  The funny thing about this is I ended up with two copies of this book.  MIL returned a bunch of books and two copies of this book were in her stack.  I had bought the book months ago but was into the Carol Higgins Clark series and had books from the library so I gave it to MIL b.c. she reads and gets them back fast.  She must've bought the book too b.c. I now I have two copies. The book makes me want to walk more than I do (if I could just get out of work earlier) and wish I had some friends/neighbors to walk with. My mom used to walk with her friend/our neighbor every night for years when I was in elementary school and junior high!

Re: weekly book post

  • I finished The Kommandant's Girl last night.  It was good but I did not love it like my mom.

I just started The Night Circus by Erin Morganstern.  It is way too soon to have much of an impression.

  • I just started reading The House at Riverton by Kate Morton. So far I am liking it. Her style is very different than what I am used to reading. I think if I would have read this book first, I would have liked Forgotten Garden a lot more.

  • Still reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I finally had some time to get a little reading done this weekend. It's a little slow to start, but I'm finding myself getting more and more interested in it so I think I'll end up liking it. It's super long so it'll take me a while to get through it!

  • Just finished The Help the other night... was so good! I was kind of surprised by the ending (not that it was bad) but I just wanted more... closure I guess?  I read the first few pages of Water for Elephants but I think I might need to take a break from reading for a little while as I study for my Critical Care RN certification.  I've been so into reading I have not been able to study like I should be doing... I guess this is why I never read during the school year in college!  I just can't balance it with studying because I get too into the pleasure-reading books.

Lauren, that book is SO slow at the start.  I felt the same way, and at the beginning it's sort of hard to understand too with all the Swedish lingo/places.  It starts picking up a lot after the first hundred pages or so.  I remember telling my grandmother the same thing.  The second and third books pick up right from the beginning though!  Well worth the slow beginning!  I can't wait for the movie to com out.
