S/O potty training

Did you use pull-ups or underwear? A is using the potty and her daycare said to get pull-ups, but I have heard not to do them and to do acutal underwear because they need to feel that they are wet. What worked for you?

Re: S/O potty training

  • They didn't have pull-ups in the "olden days" so I used undies w/ my 12 & 14 year old.

For Addison I used undies during the day & pull-ups at night for just a little bit. Maybe a month or two. I am not a fan of pull-ups. To me they are diapers (with less in a pack & just as expensive).  I was so paranoid and didn't want her to pee in them that I would get her up in the middle of the night to go pee & put her back to bed.

Abby for some reason is not anywhere near being PT so I'm going to hold off until the 1st of the year and give it a try. 1st two trained by 24mo. Addy right b/f her 3rd bday but this one .... not so much. I am soooooooooooo ready to be done w/ diapers!

That's great she is starting PT!!! As for them wanting pull-ups at daycare I would say b/c it's easier for them then to have to be dealing w/ accidents all day long.

  • We waited on underwear until P wasn't having many accidents, until then we used pull ups. I didn't want a pee mess everywhere. They make the pull ups that have the cool sensor type thing if you think it will help. We did use underwear once he was pretty good about no accidents at times we used this underwear cover up type thing, its just like a plastic pair of underwear to put over the underwear so they don't pee all over.  Right now M will sit on the potty, but nothing coming out yet. I give him kudos for trying. It all takes time

  • Do they still make training pants? The super thick underwear that you put plastic pants over? We are far off from PT, but I always assumed this is what we would use for at home when the time comes...

LOL, I would think so with all the "go green" stuff, but I don't know for sure or even where you can get them. I may have to google. :-)
