cell phones: evo vs. iphone

I'm sure this has probably been asked many many times here, but honestly don't feel like searching it out.  Here's the deal:

So I've abused (dropped multiple times) my evo to the point where it now shuts off at random, took it upon itself to delete one of the version of angry birds I had downloaded, won't allow me to download anymore apps cuts off half of the picture when I zoom, etc.  But I still love it!  This phone has been awesome.  But I do recognize that I probably should replace it.  I would love to have the same thing (actually from what I understand, if I were to get a new evo, it should be the evo 3D).  However, and I did not previously know this, Sprint now carries iPhones.  People who have had both iPhones and smartphones operating on the Android OS care to weigh in?  As well as exclusive owners of the iPhone care to share what makes it so great and why I should consider it over another Evo?

Re: cell phones: evo vs. iphone

  • I had an Incredible (Android) and an iPhone and I would definitely opt for the latter.  Android has some strange features that are a colossal PITA, such as the fact that you have to download a task killer to get some apps to stop running, and then they start running anyway at seemingly random times and chew up your battery.

There is one feature on my Android that beat the iPhone, and that was the built-in GPS.  It was fantastic and free, and I really do miss it.  However, the iPhone has several free GPS apps that you can download.  I don't think any of them are quite as good, but they are close enough that I wouldn't let that prevent me from sticking with the iPhone.

    Good luck!

  • I was considering the same thing since Sprint now has the iPhone, but in discussions with people about the features of both - the EVO3DS is apparently twice as fast as the regular EVO, and definitely faster than the iPhone, since the iPhone won't have access to the 4G network.

So even though I love Apple products, and get frustrated at times with the Android glitches - speed rules out with me. I can't stand a product that lags when I try to do something.

  • I had an EVO and was going to go back to an iphone. Then Sprint got the iphone and I was in love with my droid. I love my droid and can't go back. I did use my upgrade to get a photon and it is so similar to the EVO, just more user friendly.

  • I have the evo Shift and an iTouch (an iPhone w/o the phone) and an iPad.

I HATE typing on the iTouch- HATE. I used a blackberry for years and I am pretty addicted to having a physical keyboard over a touch screen keyboard.

I got the iTouch before getting the evo shift and I used to carry my blackberry and my iTouch around w/ me at all times.  Now I only bring the iTouch along for my DD if I remember to.
