Q about Flavored Vanilla Extracts

HI, I?m Gracey. I usually hang-out over on GP and Entertainment, but was browsing your board today. I love love love the idea of making homemade vanilla extract as Chrstimas gifts. I actually just ordered bottles and vanilla beans from amazon.com a little while ago. I realize they won?t quite have two months, but hey, such is life!
Anyway, my question is if anyone has added other flavors to the extracts and if so, how did it work? I was thinking of making a couple different types? like adding orange peel or cinnamon sticks to the mix and giving them as a set. Anyone done this? Would that be all I need to add? Or is there another ingredient you?d recommend I include with the vodka?
