Trying to come up with a Bucket List of sorts of things to do. see, etc  with my 6 & 4 yr old before we move to Houston in June.  I have started a list... ( disney, legoland, go to snow, ) trying to come up with some other things. Funny how when you live in a place your whole life you can't think of where you want to go ....

Besides what you have: Tahoe, Yosemite, Big Sur, Exploratorium, Golden Gate Park, Fisherman's Wharf, Hearst Castle, Santa Barbara, Monterey Aquarium, Fairyland in Oakland, Oakland Zoo, Egyptian Museum in San Jose, Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Knott's Berry Farm, the Getty, Sea World

The J Paul Getty Museum is in LA.  There are actually 2 locations.  His house focuses on sculpture the larger museum has a variety of collections...from Paintings, decorative arts, etc.  I spent 2 days and feel like I didn't see it all

We always went to Knott's when we went to Disneyland. So to me they are like a package since they are near each other. The Getty is in downtown L.A., north of Disneyland/Orange County. http://www.getty.edu/visit/

since everyone else has covered my suggestions .. i'm glad to see that my parents weren't alone in doing something like this before moving to an entirely DIFFERENT part of the county.

we lived in Philadelphia for 10 years befor moving to San Francisco - my parents made it a point for us kids to see some VERY uniquely east coast things (WTC, NYSE, Wall Street, Statute of Liberty, ALL of Washington DC) before we moved away and those places became far less accessible.
