Ditto pp, I've blocked status updates from people that I found to annoy me. They weren't posting anything important. 2 people stand out.
One was a cousin who kept gushing about her "Superman" and how she was happy to be with him, or sad he was leaving, etc. Blah.
The 2nd was a friend from college. His POV differs greatly from mine, and the few times I bothered to post a response he was an @ss to me. So I decided to stop seeing his posts. Actually, I may have removed him from my friends all together.
Now the only person that I tend to get annoyed at their posts is my SIL.
