Its a little difficult to craft while I'm holding DS.... but i can dream....
So at some point soon i would love to upgrade my sewing machine. I have an old brother ... XL 5011, I don't think they even had them in the US, I got it in the UK about 10 years ago. Now that I have got more into quilting and I like the idea of doing some machine embroidery I would love to get something a bit better.... my machine is pretty basic.
I like the idea of being able to design my own embroidery designs so I can do some things for DS.... but are any of the embroidery machine/ software compatible with a mac?
Id also like a machine that I could control the speed a bit better... I think I have a heavy foot....
What's your dream machine? I have no idea how much I want to spend at the moment, but I want something that'll last. Im happy to invest in something... the question is can I convince DH!! ![]()
OK that was a bit waffly... I only got about 5 hrs sleep last night... and Im a girl that likes her sleep!....zzzzzz
Re: Since i can't craft.... can I dream?
I just purchased my Bernina 440Q last May and I love it. It was between that and the Pfaff Creative 3.0 since I liked features on both of them. The Pfaff might have been a little better for quilting, but I mainly sew clothing and do quilting on the side. Both of these have an option for adding embroidery abilities for an extra cost.
As for Mac compatible, I am not sure. I have a Mac, but haven't needed to look into everything yet. DH has a few PCs, so I'm sure I could borrow his if needed once I start embroidery in the future.
PAIF and SAIF welcome. IVF questions welcome, too.
I crafted in my head while my girls were babies, every night! I also dreamed about a new machine! I did get one when they were 2.5 years old when I was just barely starting to do crafts again. But I went a bit overboard and I still don't have a lot of time to use the embroidery unit (used it once in the last 2 years, but use the machine itself fairly often). I got a Husqvarna Viking Designer Topaz 30. Way too much machine for me. It was a total impulse buy during black friday while I was still working. I knew I would be quitting my job soon so I thought it was now or never! I will probably have to wait longer before I really get into using it, because while I can craft a lot more now, there's still not a lot of time for me to really sit down and learn how to use it (even after 3 lessons I still am unsure of a lot).
Have fun dreaming! Time flies, believe me!

I am embarassed to say that I got an $800 embroidery machine a few years ago that I've never touched. I now have a 2 month old as well (I'm a girl who loves & NEEDS her sleep here too and isn't getting much these days, LOL) and I am having SEVERE sewing withdrawls! LOL (I have bins of fabric and dreams of what I could make).
I would love to get to know that machine and make some appliques to sell, or embroider names on blankets, etc. *Sighs* One day, one day...lol
Congratulations on your new baby!
