My first ER visit :(

I know it happens with every child at some point, but I really didn't think it would be this soon!

Will is totally fine, but he took a little tumble off the couch today, so we went flying up to the ER to get him checked out. I was making lunch in the kitchen, and Kyle set him down for a minute on the couch (I guess he got distracted?), and down he went. I know can sympathize with anyone who has had that sickening feeling of their child being hurt and not being able to make it better, awful! Thankfully, he is fine and the ER doctor assured us that we did the right thing by coming in, and he should recover with no problem. By the time we got into the exam room he was smiling and cooing and kicking his legs around, so we felt much better, but I'm glad we went right up to have him checked out. I will say that the ER there is very impressive- we were in and out in under an hour and the doctors and nurses were fantastic in making us feel less like terrible parents.

Now I can't stop staring at him all afternoon

Aw, definitely scary! When in doubt, it's always good to go. Glad everything was fine, now try to relax a little Glad you had a great ER experience, those are hard to come by. Although, we lucked out when Caroline's hernia became incarcerated. The nurses kept taking her out and about and showing everyone the little baby. They said it was rare to see little 4 week olds!

That is scary!  I'm sorry Will had his first misadventure.  :-(  Although, I imagine it does give you some nice peace of mind, in the long run, knowing that you have a good ER nearby.  Still, I hope it's a looooooong time (if ever) before you need it again.

Thanks ladies- he's feeling much better this evening! Ky and I are relieved that Will is up to his usual night-time hijinks. It certainly scared the hell out of both of us, and we certainly will have no qualms about taking him to the local hospital in the future if need be. Needless to say, I'll be checking in on him every couple of hours tonight, just to be on the safe side.

We had to do that too... DH fell asleep holding Jack, and he slid out of his arms onto the floor (we have a low bed and there was a bunch of stuff piled so it wasn't that far) but we still called and brought him in... DH was freaking out feeling like a terrible dad but all was well and Jack turned out fine!
