Well slap me silly and call me Herman, it's Thursday!

Supposed to get our first snow tonight--4".  Son of a B.

Yesterday I was looking forward to my gym session all day.  ALL DAY.  As soon as I pulled into said gym, my check engine light came on.  I had a tantrum in my car, full at screaming and crying at my engine, and off I drove (20 minutes closer to home) to my mechanic.  Of course it was a free quick fix (stupid sensor) but at that point I was almost home and didn't want to turn around and drive back to the gym.  I called the local gym in my town (which I am switching to next week) and asked their drop in rates (I figured, I would just swing by there for my 40 minute speed interval workout I had planned) but they charge $15 for drop ins.  And no way was I going to run outside, it was 40 and rainy!

I took a bath instead and had a half glass of wine.

Win.

(Except not on the scale.)

Made a delicious dinner, watched "Company Men" which made me all pissy, and went to bed.

I need a night of 10-11 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Happy day before Friday!

Re: Well slap me silly and call me Herman, it's Thursday!

  • Exhausted. As usual.

My pie in baking class was awesome. Too bad that shortly after all the pies came out of the oven, my tummy decided to be nauseas. So I only had a tiny slice of my cherry pie but it was delicious! Since I wasn't buying the remainder of my pie, four people got into a fight over who would. *pats self on the back*

I love Thursday. It's my chill day. When I get home from work, I am napping, then eating dinner while watching Grey's and then sleeping. Yeeeees.

    Woooooo hockey games this weekend!

  • QofA - Happy to hear you made it to your class, and that the pie was delicious. Sorry for the nausea, hopefully it gets better as your pregnancy progresses. Do you have it really bad often?

Shauni - I don't blame you for not running outside. I am hoping to start training for a marathon next May so unfortunately I may have to suck it up and bear the cold. Luckily snow has not hit our forecast just yet. I'm glad you got to just relax in the tub with some wine. I would kill for one of those nights! Perhaps I will pump a bottle and negotiate with H for an hour free tonight to enjoy a couple glasses of wine in the tub!

What marathon do you plan on running?!  I just did the Boston half (my first experience with running) and I have already planned for 3 next year :)

  • It is so flipping hard to get out of bed when it's pitch black, cool, raining, and feels like it should be Saturday because the week is moving so slowly.

Last night I went home, cleaned up a bit of the mess, changed, packed gym bag and lunch, and took the dogs for a walk. I ate and watched Hart of Dixie and two Pan Ams, then ran the dishwasher and wiped down the kitchen. I was up in bed at 10, finished my book and slept soundly.

Errands tonight, hopefully it stops raining. I need to get a book from the library, a plastic tote from Kiddie Mart, and some Halloween costume stuff at AC Moore.

Saturday is supposed to be totally miserable weather, and possibly snow. If it snows here in October, I will freak the frig out. Blah. No bulbs will be getting planted. I guess I should try to jam them in on Friday night? WTF.

  • Last night we had trivia. It wasn't league so we actually did well, came in 2nd. Since greg doesn't eat at trivia, it the same restaurant he works at but different location, we usually go to Steak and Shake so he can eat. I had a yummy Mocha shake and it gave me such acid reflux while I was trying to sleep. So yet again I slept on the couch. I have not slept 2  full nights in my bed in the longest time.

I have a work dinner tonight because one of my CW is leaving. I have an hour from when I get off work and we have to meet and Greg found a BBB gc and we still have some left over from the wedding. So I will be going BBB shopping after work and not spending money:)

I am planning on doing the Mississauga - it's just outside Toronto - May 6. If that goes well (or perhaps if it doesn't and I need to switch down to the half), I will likely try to do the Detroit as well next October.

I can't believe you did the Boston half, that would have been an awesome starter race. A friend of ours ran the Boston full and we had actually planned to go watch him but something came up. I would love love love to go watch a Boston one day (my chances of qualifying don't exist haha). The New York would be pretty cool as well.

Which 3 are you planning for next year? It is quite addicting isn't it? Glad to know I now have someone here who can hold me accountable when I get lazy and don't want to trudge through the snow or make the effort to run at the gym!

I remember that acid reflux! It was awful, I feel your pain. Tums were pretty much my best friend in my second trimester and in to the third. And then when that wore off I was just so big I couldn't sleep properly anyways. People always told me it was my body training itself for when the baby came and you can't sleep through the night anyway. Honestly though, I have slept far better since baby came than I did during pregnancy. Hopefully you will be the same way :)

  • Tums have been my BFF for MONTHS, I actually normally sleep somewhat ok. I just have to move to the couch a lot.

  • Morning all.

Feel like shiit, slept like shiit.  Big fight w/ DH last night about babies and money, the two worst things to fight about.  I just don't understand how he can own his own business, but pay himself nothing just to get out of business debt faster.  What about living your life?  It we wait 10 years for the loan to be paid off, there's no way in hell I could get pregnant at 44.  Ball sacks.

Barely made it in today.  Was 18 degrees when I walked out to my car.  DH was nice enough to start it, but dumb enough not to turn on the defrosters.  Half an hour late, big migraine, and two other people out sick that I have to cover for.  Double ball sacks.

But work bestie brought me a pumpkin spice latte.  I would rather have married her.

I have heard great things about the Detroit Marathon!  It goes into Canada for a bit, yes?

I plan on doing two local races in Vermont next year (June and August) and the Boston half again.  Boston was great, it was a lot harder than I anticipated considering how long and hard I trained, but I loved it and cannot wait to do it again next year to improve on my time!

Have you ever done a full marathon before?  Marathons are on my bucket list.  I could never qualify for Boston or NYC either...(I sadly did the half in 2:21)

  • Also, Brew, I am so sorry you are having such a rough morning :/  Those days are the pits.
  • Brew, hopefully the latte was the turning point for the day and things will just get better from there! If not, consider it justification to join the club and have a bath and some wine tonight ;)

Sounds like a fab idea! :)

  • heeeeeey!

so glad it's thursday.  For some reason last night I was convinced that Grey's Anatomy was going to be on, then I became sad when I realized that show is on thursday nights and it was only weds.  poo!

So tonight i'm looking forward to relaxing and watching that.  Not much else new and exciting.

This weekend is the dreaded Birthday party/housewarming party. (The one where niece's 1st b-day party is happening, paid for by MIL and aunt since SIL is a deadbeat, and cousin's have housewarming party in the evening which MIL is boycotting.)  I'm excited to see some family, but as sad as this is, i'm not excited to be around MIL and SIL.  They both just act like SIL is doing a fabulous job at life and raising the baby.  The rest of the family doesn't know all the drama, so it just makes me wanna puke when everyone is all happy/cheery towards SIL.  Yeah, I'm a negative nancy when it comes to this crap.

  • Hooray for the marathon runners!!  I will never run one but I am a fantastic cheerleader!!  Shauni - next time your in my area running one I will definitely come cheer you on (if you want!) I had 5 friends do the Providence 1/2 iron man, I sat on a street corner for hours cheering on strangers.  It was amazing.

QofA - Congrats on your pie!! Sorry you didn't get to eat any.

Xtine - yay for mocha shakes and boo on the flux.

Yesterday was a major let down seeing as how my bar results which were SUPPOSED to arrive in the mail, did not.  I could have cried.  The Mass results will most definitely be arriving today so I am FREAKED OUT.  FREAKED.  The good news is, that if I pass, you all get free legal advice for life.

So today my craptastic rainy Thursday consists of waiting anxiously for the results for MA, then either celebrating or drowning myself in liquor, then I am forced to endure dinner with my MIL and her husband.  If I fail the bar this could really be an interesting day.  My nervous-ness has translated into shopping like a crazy person, I have so many boots in various "shopping carts" right now that I can't even remember what boots are on what websites.

I could use a bath and some wine.... maybe I'll go do that now.

Yes, you cross the bridge and then run back in the underground tunnel. So really it is as much the Windsor marathon as the Detroit. I only live an hour from Detroit so it would be really convenient for me.

I've never done a full marathon before...I did a few half marathons when I was training for the half Ironman I did two summers ago. It was on my bucket list to do a full before I turned 25, but I had a baby instead (she was a surprise), so I'll do it next spring when I am 25.

2:21 is a great time for your first! If I hadn't been training so hard I don't think I would have been able to go under 2 hours. My goal for the full is 4:30.

  • Misty - dying laughing at I would rather have married her. So true some days, isn't it?

Christine - I adore going shopping and not spending money. Have fun at BBB! If tums aren't working, try chewable Galvescon or Maalox. I think they work better.

  • Mary, godspeed on the inlaw encounters. My MIL is posting on my FB page all oh how are you. Really? She does that so others can see she's nice. Most normal people call, text or email.

Now I need to make time for her to come over, and MFD doesn't even want to deal with it. Oy.

Sorry about all of this it really blows.  I don't want to pry into your business (well not to much anyway) but out of curiosity do you have any type of tax planner/business lawyer?  Tax law  (business specifically) is what I do, and I know people are seriously freaked by their businesses (with good reason).

Just some fast points on business: 1) He should always be drawing a salary - it is a tax deduction for the business.  2) Business debt is a GOOD thing, the interest paid is deductible, most business run bare minimum 1/2 on debt, it's called leveraging (we are always advising business owners to borrow because of the tax benefit)

If you don't mind me asking what form of business is it? Partnership, S-corp, Sole proprietor, Corp?  If it's anything pass through (sole proprietor, p-ship, S-corp) all of his business losses will come off of your take home income.  If it's a Corp - all losses are carried forward to the next taxable year so showing loss is generally a good thing.

If there is anything I can help with please let me know - even if it's just personal questions or questions to ask a business planner or something!

Good luck - and enjoy your pumpkin spice latte!!!!! yummm

I think there is one of those people in every family. My SIL isn't quite a deadbeat because she is quite young, but she can seem to do no wrong. It is frustrating sometimes when my MIL does not realize she is being taken advantage of and that SIL has no responsibilities. Still, I am trying real hard to work on my relationship with SIL and try to give her the benefit of the doubt.

  • Shauni - sorry to hear Caroline was acting up, but at least it was a sensor. Sometimes those set themselves off for some code that needs to clear.

QoA - tired. yeah, I'll be right up there with you sooner or later.

So yesterday, I was on cloud 9. Our 1st IUI cycle worked, so that means the yawning, small bladder effect, sore boobs, slight heartburn and feeling bloated was a good thing  Big Smile. Go back tomorrow for another beta HCG level reading & progesterone reading and first u/s with my RE in two weeks. Nothing on FB please, we're planning to wait a few months before letting the cat out of the bag (although my mom, sis, IL's and a few close friends know).

Today - hoping to take the dog to the park to let her run around like a banshee. Making spaghetti & zucchini for dinner and going to finish my menu planning.

  • Xtine - I chewed tums like candy through my 2nd & 3rd trimesters.  If you can stomach it, drink a glass of milk at least once a day and then again before bed.  The calcium is good for you and I always felt like it helped me sleep better by keeping the acid down.

Brew - If my BFF and I could swing both ways we agree we'd be lesbians.  But the whole girl thing just...Tongue Tied...so you're not the only one.

Quick two-day update.  When DH came home on Tuesday we picked up Baby Q's 6-month pics, hit BRU for a new stroller which we bought with gift cards so didn't cost us anything and I went to Old Navy and bought 2 pair jeans and a whole bunch of tops since everything has moved post-baby and my boobs no longer fit in most of my existing tops.  As if they weren't big enough before baby.  DH decided he wasn't really hungry while we were out - which meant Baby Q didn't get fed until 2 hours after his normal supper time.  Thanks for giving me a heads up, K.  Poor baby was starving by the time I was able to feed him.  Grr.

Last night I paid bills while DH dropped off the pnp and carseat with MIL.  He came home and passed out so I've barely talked to him in about 2 days.  And we're not even fighting.  Tonight he has bowling and will leave as soon as I get home - so I won't talk to him again.  Starting to tick me off.

  • Next to last day of work, eff yeah!  Looking forward to sleeping in on Monday.  But then I made a ton of appointments for next week.  My car (tires, fluids, etc.), another daycare, dentist, more blonde highlights because I'm vain and it's too brown for me to be happy with any newborn photos, massage, etc.

My parents are home from their trip to Africa, yay!  They arrived in SF yesterday and stayed at my uncle's house, and will drive home (3 hrs) today.  So excited to see them, and relieved that we didn't have BD while they were gone.
