Body lotions for dry skin

Anyone have a recommendation for a really mosturizing body lotion? I've been using Suave with Vitamin E for a long time but it's just not working anymore. The weather change is killing me. I'm itchy and ashy all over.

What do you use?

  • Aveeno with the green cap. It's awesome.

  • You should probably use a cream and not a lotion.  Lotions have alcohol which can dry out the skin.  We use CeraVe on DD, which you can find at Walgreens or CVS.  It comes in a tub type container rather than a bottle and is about $15.

  • You know how you have weird things where you think, "I just can't pay more than x amount for this product!" Lotion fits in that category for me. I cannot and will not pay more than like $6 for a bigass bottle of lotion. I know I should probably reconsider this because I have dry skin too. Just one of those weird mindsets I've always had.

  • If you get Cerave, make sure to get the one in the tub! I use the one with the pump on my face and it's nice and thick, but it wouldn't be enough for true dry skin. I've heard the tub stuff is great for that though.

Walgreens has a knock off of Aveeno with the green cap and it's still awesome and not as expensive.

  • I have price issues with lotion too, LB. I think it's because I go through it so quickly I can't imagine spending more than I do.

I'll look for the Aveeno and the other brands when I'm at the store today. Thanks!

Maybe if you started using a good cream, rather than an alcohol watered down lotion you wouldn't go through it so quickly and would feel better about the expense Wink

That's not to say that I don't gag every time we have to buy a new tub of CeraVe for DD, don't get me wrong :)

  • Avon Moisture Therapy Intensive Body Lotion for Extremely Dry Skin.  They have it in a gigantic 34 oz bottle for about $13.  But, I've caught it on sale for $8.

You might be on to something there. Wink

  • Another vote for Cerave -- the kind in the tub. It has ceramides, which are apparently something your skin needs to stay moisturized. It's really amazing stuff!

It's cheaper at Costco -- they have it behind the pharmacy counter.
