Baby Food Recipes?

I think I want to try my hand at making baby food.  Has anyone done this, and where do I get recipes (or do I just buy a veggie and Magic Bullet the hell out of it)?

I also plan on buying Jessica Seinfeld's Deceptively Delicious - a friend has used it and said she has recipes which use veggies but you really can't taste them (like hiding eggplant in a stir fry) - I think it'll be great for family meals once Hayden is on solids, even though both of my girls really like vegetables.  Has anyone tried this book?  Thoughts?

Re: Baby Food Recipes?

  • go get the book "super baby food" lots of good stuff. (rec. by my friend who made all her own baby food because her daughter has celiacs).

also, i have tried the brownies w/ spinach (and i think they even had BROCCOLI in them)  from deceptively delicious, and you honestly can not taste the veggies. (nestie tyetyemom made them... she said just to wait until they are completely cooled to eat them or you will taste the other stuff)

    have fun!

  • go to wholesomebabyfoods.com - there's a lot of really useful information there.

i made a lot of the bean's food. ?i'd buy organic produce, steam it till it was soft enough, and toss it in the food processor with a little bit of the cooking liquid. ?i bought a couple of sets of babycubes, portioned and labeled it all, and put them in the freezer.

i have the jessica seinfeld book. ?i used it for a while, but the hub and the teen really hated the dishes i tried from it. ?even if you can't necessarily taste the pureed goods in the recipes, a lot of the food ends up a funky color, which made it really unappetizing. ?

hell, don't buy the book. ?i'll give you the damn thing - it's just gathering dust since we hated the recipes in it.?
