Children Activities... need help!!!

So my husband and I are having a party for the LSU/Bama game... Children are going to be there and I want to keep them "entertained" as possible.  This is a night game, and there is a burn ban in effect, so SMORES and what I would typically do is not really possible.

I am wanting to do some sort of craft or soemthing... thinking maybe something Thanksgiving/Christmas related since Halloween is over today... maybe something that doesnt require alot of supervison (as you can tell i dont have children), but i want them to enjoy themselves... of course we will have outside toys but since this is a night game and it is going to be cold outside, I want to keep them entertained while inside...

Re: Children Activities... need help!!!

  • How old are the kids and what time is the game?  It may just be that the kids won't come.  As a parent I would appreciate the thought, but I'd rather not have to help my kid with a project in someone else's (nonkid) home.  Is there another room/tv you could put a Charlie Brown movie on?

If you really want something maybe print off some coloring pages (with school mascot) and let the kids color.  If you want to invest a touch more get the color wonder markers and paper.  NO MESS

  • washable markers and elmer's washable glue; poms, eyeballs, feathers and stuff they can glue on a pumpkin to decorate it for thanksgiving.  (posting from phone)

I was going to suggest the same thing.

Instead of holiday craft, have it game related.

This is a virutally free (to you) project that parents don't have to get involved with.  You're only investment is some crayons and maybe buy some butcher paper / kraft paper that the kids can color on top off in order to not mess up your table top or floor.

  • FYI- washable markers still make a mess.  My 3 yo had it everywhere the other morning- his hands, arms, clothes, carpet, table.  I was sitting right next to him.  Sure it cleaned up, but it was a pain.
  • My kid is a big fan of foam stickers.  They come in big bags, all different themes.  I've seen them at Michaels.  The kids just have to tear the paper off the back and stick the foam stickers on paper.  My three year old can do it pretty much unsupervised.  You can also get foam door hangers or visors that they could decorate with the foam stickers.

Maybe get a couple games like Memory and MouseTrap?
