Latest and greatest board games?
I've gotten myself into a tradition of giving my BIL a new game every Xmas as his gift. But I'm running out of ideas on new ones to get. Mostly looking for new(er) games, as opposed to classics that they and everyone have played many times before.
Games I've already given them in the last 5-6 years.
Apples to Apples
Sequence
Blokus
Settlers of Catan
Bananagrams
This is just for adults, no little kids. So something harder or adult-themed would be fine. As long as it's fun.
Re: Latest and greatest board games?
Ticket To Ride. any of the varieties.
ETA: Zombie Fluxx - it's actually a card game but hysterical.
Things <---- Love this game.
Catch Phrase
telestrations is a really fun game. It's a mix between the game telephone and pictionary. It's great with all different age groups as well. I have only see in at a game store or online.
Dixit: it's a fun game that's a little different. I think it was the winner of the 2010 german game awards. You can buy it at B&N, amazon, and any game store.
Ticket to ride is fun as well as someone else mentioned.
Buddies with botanicalbliss & Shazzie116
TTCAL buddies with MrsErinH
I 2nd the Ticket To Ride games (I put the Europe one on my own list this year).
Agricola is very fun (but expensive).
Dominion series is fun (it's sets of cards with lots of expansion packs).
Cities & Knights expansion for Settlers of Catan
The Game of Things is lighthearted/funny
Time's Up is kind of a variation of charades, but a good group game
Carcassone is a tile game made by the same group as Settlers. It's an easy set up strategy game.
Tripoley because it's always fun to play card games and use poker chips
