Have you ever been to the BCS National Champ. Game?

Have you ever been? There is a chance that my school will make it there this year for the first time EVER... and it's possible that if they make it, it will be the only time ever. We have to have our 'bowl ticket request' forms filled out within the next several days. The game this year is in New Orleans, which is a pretty easy drive for us. The only reason I hesitate is because I have NO idea how much the tickets could be. I mean, it's possible that this is a once in a lifetime kind of thing, and if my team makes it there and I don't go, I may very well die. But, I simply can't afford a $300 ticket for myself. And, my parents can't afford a $300 ticket for my siblings (who attend OSU) and themselves. That'd be ridiculous. BUT...

So, have you been? If so, tell me the round-about price, please! Give me an idea!

  • I've been to all 3 of the Gators' NCs (96, 06 and 08). Wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. We were students in 06, and lucked out by getting student tix for 275ish. Paid more like 400ish in 08. The ticket price will really depend on who you end up playing, and how well that team's fan base travels. (In othe words, they'll likely be hella $$$$ as you'll either be playing LSU which is right down the rd, or Bama whose fan base has gobs of money and travels EVERYWHERE.)

  • But if you're asking for face value, I assume that's in the high 200s, low 300s. I just meant that the fan bases dictate for how much tickets go on sites like StubHub, etc. Either way, don't expect to pay much less than $300 / pop. But, to us, it was worth it both times. (Pretty sure my parents were able to scalp tickets for cheap in 96, lol.)

  • We were unable to go last year because the national championship fell right in the middle of our IVF cycle. Major bummer.

We had every intention on going, though, until the IVF schedule worked out that way...

I wish we would have gotten to go. Although, being downtown at Toomer's just minutes after we won was pretty awesome, too. And we got to watch the game in the Letterman's Club in the stadium, so that was pretty sweet.

If I were you, and was able to go, I'd do it. But I also honestly have no idea how much tickets are...we get all of our football tickets (regular seasons, SEC Championship and bowl games) free through the athletic department.

I know what some people in Auburn paid last year..and it was lots and lots of $$$$...

  • I have gone twice and it is worth every penny for the tickets!
  • Thanks! I'm going. I'm going even if I have to sell my kidney. ((IF they make it.))

I just really needed a ball park figure, and I got it!
