I'm starting to feel discouraged.

I told H that I just want to take the house off of the market. I am so sick of it all.

Everyone tells our realtor the same thing "Love the house, hate the street". Yeah, we're on a busy road, but doesn't everyone know that BEFORE they come to see the house?

I am tired of busting my a$$ to keep the house spotless all the time just so we can have multiple showings every week so someone can not like the busy road (which they could have easily seen on google maps instead of wasting everyone's time).

We had 2 showings last week, and one was supposed to be on Sunday but they'll come at the end of the week now instead. Since DH is traveling the next 2 weeks in a row, I'm sure we'll have TONS of showings while I'm alone.

Ugh. Vent over. Maybe.

Seriously though, I told H to just finish the basement to give DS a playroom and we'll just stay.

Re: I'm starting to feel discouraged.

  • Multiple showings a week is great news!  Also, only serious buyers are out looking at this time of year.

If it's really getting to you, I would take the house off the market just before Thanksgiving and list it again at the beginning of February.  That way you don't have to worry about keeping the house in showing condition during the holidays.

  • Aw, I'm sorry.

If it helps, we're on a busy street too and our next door neighbors just sold their condo (1/2 of a two-family) for a small profit.  It was on the market for about three months.  So it can happen, I just hope it happens for you soon!

I like baker's idea of taking it off the market for the holidays if you just can't stand it anymore.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Thanks, ladies. I'm getting a little hysterical. I think it's all of the no-power stuff making me crazy lol.

We have been on the market 55 days with one price drop. One week we had only 1 showing, but every other week we have had 2+ (and we already have 2 scheduled fro the end of this week).

The average for our area is 150 days on market, so I know I shouldn't totally freak at this point, but I am.

I am going to talk to DH about taking it off for the holidays. Although, there may be much fewer showings at that point anyway, right?

  • Our condo is on a busy street. We didn't even realize it until our first night there and then we were like, WTF?

    But it was okay.

You can take the holidays off, re list it in the spring.

    LOL, I can't really imagine this :)

55 days isn't all that long, but I can understand your frustration for sure.  I wouldn't think many people would be out looking at houses around the holidays, but see what your realtor thinks.

Oh, and my neighbors also had one price drop.

  • I know how you feel.  We just did a price drop last week and have only had one showing since then.  I too am over keeping it clean and that panic before I leave like what if someone wants to come look today and I didn't vacuum this morning.

We are going to keep it on the market until Thanksgiving then if it does not sell, rent it for a year or more.  DH likes that idea, I hate it, but it is what it is.  With me finally moving, we really need to do something with it.

  • My realtor just emailed and we have a showing tomorrow and Friday.

I think the real problem is that I get my hopes up a little with every showing, and I'm worn out from being let down two or three times a week. It's exhausting! Haha

Aw, pup, I hope your house sells soon! You aren't planning on buying right away in MA, right? So at least you aren't rushed!

  • I would love to buy, but honestly, we need more time to explore and figure out where we want to be and what we want.  I don't want to rush into something and regret it later.  Even little things like traffic and closeness to work are things that I need to figure out first.

For now, I think we might just switch to a 2 bedroom in the current apartment building.  The place is interesting in terms of residents, but centrally located and good for us for right now while we explore and get settled.  Plus, they do snow removal themselves and there is a covered garage.
