Military paying for move (just checking here)

DH just got orders for our 1st PDS.  The military will pay for our move right? I was reading this book today (something like how to be a military family or whatever) and I thought I read something saying if DH checks into his new duty station before getting me/our crap moved out there, they won't pay to move us? Seriously I skimmed over it quickly then had to get to work so I could be way wrong.

DH is checking in on Thursday morning per his orders (day after SOI graduation) and then putting in his request for leave to come home and help move me/all our crap out there. Just checking.

  • TMO will pay for it. J was at his first duty station for about a month before I came out and although we did a full DITY, there were no issues with money.

  • You should be fine  That is more for people who are already stationed somewhere and want to move family there months or years later.  Like when an SM gets married in the middle of a tour, they won't pay to move the new wife there.

  • Thanks!  I thought I read that wrong, but I was late for work and had to throw the book down.

  • Hey there! Well, I am not sure what branch you are in, but we are Navy, and my DH went to Japan without us. He is geo bachelor, but now, he had to do a Non-concurrent Command Sponsorship. Originally he was told that he had to do a Family Entry Approval which is DEAD WRONG! Had we done it that way, we would NOT get our plane tickets or my things moved to join him. With the military (all branches) you have to make sure you submit the right paperwork. That Family Enty Approval is for dependents that are travelling with their husbands. I know of a girl whose husband did the Family Entry Approval for her, and the whole move from stateside to Japan was all on them! Oh and I had to call up Admin because I really dont think anyone can get results like I can lol! I like to cross all my T's and dot my I's to make sure its all being done right to avoid that "run around" game.
