Hump day randoms

This is both a very quick and very long week for me.   Ha.

I hate calling daycares.  I have a list of 7 that I need to tackle today.  I wish this was easier.  :(

Re: Hump day randoms

  • Good morning.

Good luck with the daycare search, Molly.

One of my AT&T reps just called.  It sounds like she was able to fix one of the big mistakes that they made.  So, I'm less angry now.  Smile

Yay!  I hate issues with service providers.  It feels like such an unproductive use of time to sort things out and then argue with the customer service people there.

  • I want to go shopping.  Like a crazy "What Not to Wear", hand me a $5000 BofA prepaid visa and let me go wild shopping.

Also, the time has come for me to start thinking just a little bit about what I want to do for work this summer.  I have some ideas brewing, but need to run some things by L to find out what his priorities are.  I'm not looking forward to that because we have been having major communication issues lately.

The time has also come to start studying for finals.  I still feel like I barely have time to prepare for class, let alone work on extras like outlines and study materials.

Finally, did I mention here that we register for winter classes next week?  It's pretty exciting for me to know that soon I'll be signed up for my last first year classes.  It feels like progress somehow.

For shopping, maybe swing by the Howell outlets since you drive past there so often?  I love that place!  It's probably good that it's not closer to us.  I tend to spend a lot of money there.  B does too.  He's been turning into a clothes horse lately, which is an interesting phenomenon.

Good luck with studying for finals, registering for next semester, and discussing summer plans with L.  I hope everything goes well!

The thought of stopping at Howell crosses my mind every week.  It's just better to avoid temptation.  Although *hopefully* I'll need to go suit shopping in a few months and that will take care of my shopping fix.

L is kind of a clothes horse as well.  He seems to go in phases and is in a less fashion-y phase right now.  Perhaps because he's lost so much weight that 75% of his clothes don't even fit him at all right now.

  • It's Wednesday wohoo. All I have to do today is work and go to a doctors appt after work for a med check. I hope that everyone has a decent day!

Where does L typically shop for clothes?

B's interest in clothes is a regularly new thing and he's been having a hard time finding clothes that he likes.  He's found that he likes a lot of clothes at Banana Republic and J. Crew, but he's also generally not willing to pay the prices (and that's where the outlets come in handy).

    yay, congrats!

  • I am getting excited about a food blog conference that I'm going to not this weekend but next weekend. In Santa Monica. With awesome free food and wine throughout.

Which reminds me, I NEED to get back into running!

Sometimes I think those two might be twins separated at birth Stick out tongue  L is a really loyal BR shopper.  He shops the clearance rack and has an uncanny ability to find really good deals.  Also, I have a Luxe card there, so we'll use coupons and rewards cards.

  • Sometimes I fantasize about dropping DS off at daycare, then jumping onto 96 and dashing to the Howell outlets for the day...

I registered for another marathon today; this will be my #3... and the one I registered for last week will now become my #4... two weeks later. Surprise

  • I haven't had instant oatmeal in over a year (I eat whole oats). I just made some. The texture is weird & mushy. I can't believe I used to like this stuff!

Have you tried Better Oats chocolate/flax instant packets? Yum. My oatmeal-hating DH has been eating them for breakfast since I stocked up on 10 (ok 12...) boxes when I found them at Meijer.

I haven't tried that flavor. I have had the Blueberry Muffin with flax & those are delish! I guess I don't think of Better Oats as instant since they're not chopped to a pulp. LOL! I guess it does say instant on them though. So I have to retract my "over a year" comment. :o)

They're actually "Lavish dark chocolate" -- the Lavish is the biggest word on the box. Yummy, especially with a blop of almond butter stirred in!

  • Four newspapers, The Grand Rapids Press, The Muskegon Chronicle, The Kalamazoo Gazette and The Jackson Citizen Patriot, still will publish seven days a week, but starting Feb. 2 will change to a three-day-a-week home-delivery schedule: Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Well, on the bright side of things, I hopefully can get my husband to actually focus on a family dinner four days a week rather than reading the paper. He has a bad habit of reading the paper.

LOL! I don't think she meant reading the paper is a bad habit. I think she meant reading the paper during dinner is a bad habit.

  • Wendy - Get back into running you would be able to put that Y membership to use again. ;)

Chymes - What were your thoughts on Brian Williams new show. I saw you mention it on your twitter account..I think.

  • Chymes, I understand that you're upset about the paper change, but why are you "mad"?  It's very sad what has happened to print media, but if it's not viable as a business model to deliver 7 days a week, what else could they do?

DP, I'm sorry you and L have been having communication issues.  Distance is hard, and you've committed to school.  Hope it's a good weekend for you both.

Kasa, glad AT&T is working with you.

  • There are not many things I hate more than calling daycares.  Why do I hate this so much?  I don't know, but I do.  Really, really do.
  • Afternoon all!

It's been a crazy busy week at work, but it's calm at the moment.

I guess it's kind of sad that print media is coming to an end, in a nostalgic kind of sad way.  Just because print is dying, doesn't mean journalism is dying though.

  • I really hope the aching in my head, neck & throat is just my body feeling sorry for all of the sick people around me. Tongue Tied
    Ben & Shana - August 27, 2005
  • Missy, I've been "sympathetically sick" for a week now.  Today I decided to just give into it.  Hope you're feeling better soon.

    Zinc lozenges!  Cold-eeze!

Unlike Airborne, this stuff really works, especially when taken at the very beginning of symptoms.  I've been suggesting it to all of my school friends as well.  I really don't have time to be sick over the next five weeks.

  • Everyone feeling sick - I hope you feel better soon!

We are going to Chicago this weekend to visit friends, and we can't be sick around my BFF's baby.  I've been popping my vitamins and using hand sanitzer like it's my job.

Lol! Yes Missyna is correct.  Sorry for the confusion. I had two kids ready to escape outside to play so I posted quickly.

I actually give the GR Press a lot of credit. They just didn't sit back and do the same ol', same ol'.   For newspapers dying across the country and for how many Booth newspapers already making this switch (Flint Journal, AA), I was always surprised at the number of feature sections the Press did like You Life, Health, etc.
