Anniversary Date Night ideas, please!

This will the first anniversary (since our 1st one) where we'll actually get a date night out -just the two of us!  The last few there have always been family get-togethers planned which has been fine but now I'm super-excited to get a date night out w/my husband!  Wahoo!

But I could really use your help.  Any great ideas on what we can do/where we can go so we don't just end up going out to a movie or having takeout at home?  ;)   I'm not necessarily looking for anything super-fancy but I would like it to feel a little more "special" than usual.  TIA!  :)

(Btw, the kiddo will be staying overnight w/my parents.  So we might even be able to stay out past 9pm!)

  • We had dinner at the Claremont one year for our anniversary. It was a place I'd always wanted to go and the restaurant itself was not that fancy/expensive. There are a variety of restaurants there to choose from. GL and have fun!!

We're in the East Bay but since we don't have a curfew that night we don't mind going a little further out.  And we're open to any type of cuisine, really.  I just don't want anything too, too pricey (no French Laundry).  I'm not really narrowing it down a whole lot, am I?  lol -Do you *see* why I need help?!?  ;)

  • Definitely do a nice dinner!  How about something like House or Slanted Door?  Nice but not overly fancy or expensive.

There's always Chez Panisse, which I haven't been to but always hear fantastic things about.  The cafe menu seems reasonable, if the downstairs restaurant menu is too rich (and they have an interesting price structure I've never seen before).

DH and I also like House of Prime Rib in the city if you want meat.

Spa treatments are a great idea.  Are there any shows in town you want to see?  Cool one-day cooking or other classes you might like?

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

we love the slanted door! I think cooking classes is a good idea too. DH got me one for Xmas last year at Sur La Table, I wish he had gotten himself one ti  would have been fun.

  • I like Fondue for date night.  A solid 2 hour dinner that's fun!  They have Simply Fondue in livermore, but also in Walnut Creek and San Jose I believe?  Not sure where you are but it's a fun dinner spot.
