Costa Rica?

DH an I are entertaining the thought of making our next vacation be to Costa Rica. Have any of you been there? If so, any suggestions or opinions? Thanks!

Re: Costa Rica?

  • YOU should GO!!!!  DH and I went this summer and it was AMAZING!!!  We don't have enough good things to say about it.  It is a gorgeous country with very friendly and helpful people and there is TONS to do there!  We stayed at 2 very different places, but definitely preferred the first place and wished we had stayed there longer.  http://www.arenalnayara.com/index.php  here is the link for the hotel that is loved.  If you have any other specific questions please don't hesitate to ask :)

  • I've never been there but my sister stayed for about 6 weeks one summer and she LOVED it!

  • Our Honeymoon was in Costa Rica!  DH and I spent a week at Riu Guancaste, an all inclusive resort, and just loved it!  We did excursions through Costa Rica for Everyone http://costaricaforeveryone.com/ which I would highly recommend.  Their tours mirrored what the resort offered but what is great about going with them is that it can be just you and the guide, not a bus full of 20+ people.  That way you have more say on the time you spend at places and are even able to make stops on the way at stores and such.  I loved all the outings we did so it is really hard to pick a favorite.  The Miravalles tour was an excellent variety of fun stuff including ziplines, mudbath, hot springs, horse back riding, etc.  The Arenal tour was another favorite.  It is a gorgeous volcanoe.  We also did a Palo Verde half-day tour where they took us out on a boat and we got to see so many different animals.  The highlight was easily when the troop of White-faced monkeys came onto our boat.  And, finally, we did a tour to Nicaragua which was just amazing.  It was so interesting seeing the change of culture just across the border.  We got to see some beautiful, old churches and old towns and got to go up to an active volcano.

But, no matter what you do, you will love it there.  The people are so friendly and everything is just so beautiful.  It was just the coolest feeling in the world to be in such a beautiful country.  We would wake up in the morning to the sound of tropical birds and howler monkeys.  It was just unreal!  I would actually recommend going in the summer which is during the rainy season but that means that everything is so green and lush.  And, the rain wasn't really that bad.

If you have any other questions, feel free to pm me.  I would be happy to help!
