I really want to learn to crochet, I have seen a pattern for super cute baby hats on etsy and I want to make my babies something, Anyone self taught? Apparently knit-one-one in Berkeley doesn't do classes anymore =(

I crochet and would be happy to help if I can. You should also start hanging out on the Craft board. Lots of talented ladies there and it's a super friendly board where you'll get lots of answers, tips, etc.
I learned through a combo of one quick in-person lesson, but mostly through books and online videos. Rather than reinvent the wheel, I'm going to link you to a few posts from the Crafts board that should help you get started. And there's always the FAQ at the top of the Crafts board, created and maintained by yours truly.
