Red Light Cameras?

I'm asking this on behalf of my DH, who can be, by the way, a wee bit high strung.  LOL

Apparently, he "might have" run a red light on 1604.  He called me from the road in a practical panic and asked me to see if there are red light cameras around the city and whether or not the interesections controlled by the cameras have to have a sign posted indicating that.  I did a quick google search but couldn't come up with the answers.  Anyone know?

Re: Red Light Cameras?

  • I don't think they follow through with them if they have them.  I wouldn't worry.

  • here in CA they do not have to advertise them, but it is easy to talk you way out.  you just clam it is not you and the judge can't held it against you since it was issued by a person.

also, you know if you ran one.  there is a HUGE flash that half the time blinds you and almost makes you crash.

  • This was awhile back, but I remember the cameras being there, but not necessarily "hooked up" to catch cars running red ligths.  It was more to deter.  I know in the future the plan was to have them throughout the city and hooked up to actually catch people.  But, right now, I want to say that the only "trial runs" of the red light cameras were in the Terrel Hills and Alamo Heights area and only at certain intersections.
  • The only area in SA that tickets on red light cameras is Balcones Heights. Inside Loop 1604 - Fredericksburg Road.?

  • I wouldn't worry about it. The police in SA seem to have more to worry about !!
  • As far as I know, there are no red light cameras on 1604. I could be wrong. Speaking of police though, did you see the new policy they are going to put into effect? They aren't coming out to your house if you report a crime that has already happened? So I doubt they are going to care if you ran an intersection. That's my piece on it. Sad

WTH?  Really?!  So what do they do, just take the report over the phone?  Nuts!

And thanks, everyone else, for the info.  I'll go and try to put the hubby's mind at ease.

No, even better, they are encouraging people to go to their website and type it up themselves. Hopefully the theives don't steal your computer! Sad It's called the SMART initiative. Here's the SAPD's website on it. I think some of the stuff sounds REALLY crazy to me. I mean, only if it's under $500 I guess...but still! This is so weird and makes me wonder what we are paying taxes for? Sorry, it just strikes a nerve. Confused
