Parisian Themed NYE Party
We are hosting our 1st NYE party together this year and thought it would be fun to have a theme. I found a 5 ft. eiffel tower wall decal on line and thought about putting up some white holiday lights inside the house. We will be serving dessert and champagne. Does anyone have any other decorating ideas or thoughts on what to serve. Mini eclairs, maybe grapes and cheese is all I've come up with so far. TIA
Re: Parisian Themed NYE Party
Hi! Some quick menu ideas:
Brie en Croute (Brie wrapped in Puff Pastry)
Pate with Crackers
Raw Oysters on the Half Shell served with Crusty French Bread
Vegetables with a real French Onion Dip
Beef Bourginone (sp?) from Julia Child's book (featured in movie Jules and Julia) (sp?)
HTH!
Hostess Blog usually has a lot of cute ideas. There is one parisian party they show set up with lots of dessert tables. Their accent color was purple which isn't very NYE like but maybe substitute the purple for silver, gold, or red. I also like all the umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. That would be really cool to do in the main room people will be in, even if its at a much smaller scale.

I just bought the materials to start making my NYE party decor. This year the color scheme will be gold, silver and greens. I'm making a "paper chain" out of satin ribbons, and hanging gold and silver leafed square dowels over the table. I'm reusing the clear glass votive holders as part of the "chandelier." I always have my tree up still, so that will also be decorated to match the color scheme.
Parisian theme should be pretty straight forward. You can often find Parisian ornaments to decorate with.
Here are some pictures from last years party:
I like to think of a color scheme then work around that. I have a lot of silver, gold and white ornaments to accent the feature color.
Here are some quick links I found for Parisian inspired decor.

I like the use of black in some of this decor:

Have fun!
BTW... check out Barefoot in Paris for some easy, Parisian inspired recipes.
Julia Child and Bouchon are also amazing, but a bit more advanced.
Pier One has glittery little Eiffel Tower Christmas Tree ornaments you could use as decor on a table with candles or as party favors. You could take the chance they'd be on sale right after Christmas.
I'd also make some paper products that have french words on them like a welcome banner with "Bonjour!" or an easel with a sign on the buffet saying "Bon appetit!" etc. With the right font and maybe some toile or swirled accents it would have a great effect on the theme.
