I am planning on making pot holders and dishcloths for our Christmas gathering. The potholders I have found call for cotton yarn, but I'm not finding Christmas colors at Joanns in cotton. Do you think it'd be ok to use another type?
Here's a pattern I want to use. http://www.bestfreecrochet.com/free-crochet-pattern/157-holly-square-crochet-dishcloth-maggie-weldon-maggies-crochet/
Re: Christmas crochet items
Michaels has better prices on cheap cotton kitchen yarn, IMO- and I know they always have that red/green/white tri colored one at mine (and all the single colors- except maybe solid red?). Cotton takes dye really well, if all else fails.
But. I would skip the Christmas theme- and just go with something that matches their kitchen, or ones that you think they'll like. I know that personally, I'm SO over Christmas by the time gifts have been passed around- I am not likely to keep dishtowels or scrubbies that scream CHRISTMAS!!!! around long! LOL
ETA: Wait. So, you're not talking about making gifts- just to use during the holiday get-togethers? Duh. Sorry.
Peaches and Cream is great for that type of project- and pretty cheap stuff!

Sorry I wasn't very clear on that, yep it's just for us to use. I went to Michaels, but they had no green, I was quite sad. Oh well, I'll just order it all.
Thanks everyone.
