Re: Fvcking Twilight.
Twilight is not even CLOSE to Harry Potter.
The Harry Potter books are my favorite books of all time. I read the entire set at least once a year. They are brilliant and clever and I love them.
I read the Twilight books. They're OK. They're exactly what imoan said...junkfood for the mind. I may read the trilogy every once in a while, although I've only read them once and not really feeling any desire to read them again in the near future.
I haven't seen the Twilight movies. I've seen all the Harry Potter movies except the last one. I'm not a terribly huge fan of the HP movies, because I love the books so much I just don't understand some of the departures in plot from the book. (I do like all the actors though, especially Snape and Ron).
I think what bothered me about the Twilight books are that Bella is not really a lovable character. She's kind of an idiot. She's always the victim, so all these strong magical men are always having to rescue her. Also, the writing is too overdramatic for my taste, so that would occasionally bother me.
Dog, read the HP books. I don't think you'll regret it.
I haven't read VD in ages!!! I remember Elena being a brat and the guys being creepy stalkers. However I remember her Night World series having stronger women....I hope my memory is correct!
Calling him Pacey is a must. I went to school with a guy named JJ and that would ruin the whole scene.
Twilight is emotional porn for teenage girls. Edward is a sadistic sociopath (he exhibits like 7/8 of the qualities of a sociopath). He is a animal blood drinking overly moralistic 20th century fairy. Bella is a masochistic weirdo with about the personality of a plastic spoon and the inability to have a legitimate relationship not based solely on physical attraction.
Steven King is right. Also, Anne Rice hates Twilight too so 2/2 real authors hate Twilight... That says something there...
And why oh why in high heavens is it seen as attractive to be pasty white? (I am literally one of the palest people ever but they look like they were doused in baby powder.)
