The poster who had worked as a CSA in a nursing home talked about a man in black the patients would see before they died.
I was thinking how creepy that was yesterday.
I also referenced in my OP how my dad had had a really vivid dream before he died, but I didn't mention anything about the dream (didn't think it was relevant when I posted).
Well, he had woken up from his dream and was frantically talking to my mom about Darth Vader coming. My mom thought he was just out of it, but he kept talking about Darth Vader.
Hmmmm....a vivid dream about Darth Vader and a man in black? (And my dad was a comedian, so if he saw something like a man in black, he would have called him something like Darth Vader). Weird, huh? Maybe my dad hadn't been dreaming.
Re: Creepy thing I just realized (about near death experience post)
And my mum still swears that the shiny lights my dad saw while he was dying were angels, even though he, also religious but much less so, thought they were bugs, and if she hadn't been so stupid and gullible, they might have moved him back into the real hospital from the assisted living care in time to save his life.
The brain does weird things when it's not working right, black masses and shiny spots being right up there. I'm not saying it couldn't possibly be anything else, but I think people calling out about seeing a man in black as they die is more likely to have caused the reaper figure in our collective imagination than prove it. Although it's a pretty western concept, so maybe it's more that people expect and imagine it? Hm.
