Customized Christmas Ornaments - Where can I get ONE?

Okay, I know SOMEBODY out there HAS to know where I can get JUST ONE personalized Christmas ornament for my husband.  I found a great site for a place in Michigan (Bronner's CHIRSTmas Wonderland) where I got lots of ideas, but I want one for my husband's profession.  I know this is something that he'd really like because every time we go to a Christmas store he looks around for something for Electrical Engineers  (This is NOT the same thing as Electric Engineers or Electronic Engineers!) and he's so disappointed that he can't find one.  There simply aren't any good ones out there (I did find one on this site for plain ol' Engineers - no branch specification).

I'd really like to order one but every place I find that does custom ornaments has a minimum order of 100!!  I only need ONE!!  AHH!  I just want to be able to put whatever I want on ONE blank bulb!!  Does anybody know of a store online or elsewhere (hopefully Missouri or Kansas) that would do this for me?  I am looking for the BULB style.  I don't want a flat, cheap looking ornament.

Can someone please give me a referral??  Thank you!!!

  • Could you make a photo ornament work? Maybe with a photo of their logo or shop sign...

  • I've used www.personalizationmall.com a few times. I know they have ornaments on there too. Annnd they're having a 25% off Christmas sale right now.
  • Have you tried Etsy? Even if you can't find exactly what you want, you could probably contact a vendor of something similar to what you're looking for and ask them to do a special order.

  • Some of this stuff ( <-- that's a clicky right there) pertaining to Ohm's Law might make a cool gift. There are some decals on that site you could diy an ornament with.

Good luck! My husband was a particle physicist, and it's remarkably hard to find particle physicist tchatchkis, so I feel your pain!

  • It has been quite a long time since I was at Bronner's. When I read your message they were the first to pop into my head, second to creating your own.

I may be mistaken but I think I remember a specific section of Bronners that personalized ornaments. I do not mean the fun career oriented ones, but a section where you pick your bulb and the ladies behind the counter would personalize it there for you. Perhaps you can take the Engineers bulb and have them write Electrical on it so that it matches? Otherwise - Hobby Lobby (and I"m sure Michaels) sells clear christams ornaments for you to decorate. You could use Bronner's idea so it's a close match. GL
  • I love Bronners...don't know if they have Electrical Engineer ornaments though...they really don't have THAT much of a variety.  Same for flags of different countries ornaments...you'd think they'd have more.  Definately check out their site or also email/call customer service and see if they can make one for you the way you'd like it.

    I googled and found these:

    http://www.etgiftstore.com/items/ALL-PRODUCTS/Gifts-for-Electrical-Electronics-Trades-and-HAMS/Gifts-for-Electrical-Engineers/list.htm

    http://www.ornamentsandmore.com/other-occupation-ornaments.aspx

Unfortunately, you might just have to create something on your own...I wonder if there is a good site for that?

You might see if there is a woodcarver or some artisian in your area (or online), I know of one that used to do handmade ornament orders - they're definately not cheap, but they're beautiful.

  • Thanks everybody.  I'd already looked at all those sites with no luck - except Etsy.

And we have a winner!!!!  ETSY!!!  Thanks so much, Nursecramer!  I'd have never thought of that!  I found "DooMeAFavor" who makes customized favors and ornaments.  :)  What a relief.
