Christmas gift ideas

What are you all thinking of getting your family members for Christmas this year? I'm so stuck on everyone! I want to start shopping now because I know how fast the time will go. I'm also planning on doing a lot of shopping online for the first time because first-year teaching is taking up so much time. We also live over an hour from good shopping. Ideas?!

Re: Christmas gift ideas

  • my Dad I usually do an amazon gift card cause he uses his Kindle a lot

my mom not sure yet....we usually get her something personalized, I may do something with Bre?!?!

older niece and nephew I usually do gift cards - same with brother, sister, and their spouses.

as for the in-laws....prob gift cards lol...I have no idea what to get them

the little kids- I did everything on amazon...LOVE that site! I got a lot of good ideas off pinterest too...

  • I bet your mom would love something with Bre on it :) She's so stinkin' adorable!!

I'm looking on Amazon right now, but it's so overwhelming because they have virtually everything!

I didn't even think of Pinterest, though. GREAT idea! Headed there now...

  • thanks...I have a million pictures of her so it would be easy to make something lol...I cant even video her cause she jsut stops what she's doing and looks at the camera!

Amazon is VERY overwhelming, especially if you dont have any clue, I could spend hours on there...luckily my sister gave me ideas of waht to get her kids..this year for B is easy peasey....next year wont be ill want to get her EVERYthing!!!

I know pinterest have a 'gifts' category to search in and you can search by price

  • Andy and I are going on a cruise so we are asking for items/money towards that.  If you know of anyone going on a vacation soon... vacation items would be helpful and you could always make that a fun gift :)

I'm at a loss at what to get my family right now as well.  I know i'm getting my mom a coach wristlet from an outlet... I just need to get there.  my sister will get pregnancy things probably.. I plan to make something off pinterest... hopefully.

My brother just got a new apartment with his girlfriend.. so they will probably get something nice for that. :)

the rest.. who knows!  Thankfully the cruise is our gifts to each other for Andy and I! :)

  • Right now, the only definite thing is pictures.  I still have the picture frames that we used for our table numbers at our wedding.  We are going to print pictures (not of us, the recipients) from our wedding for family members and put them in the frames.  It gets rid of the frames and gets family members cute pictures.  I had wanted to do this last year, but we didn't have our disc of pictures yet.

  • im doing fancy jar candles for part of gifts for my family, in buttered maple syrup flavor. i have one that ziggy and i got on our little honeymoon trip and everyone always raves about how awesome my house smells when i burn it, so im going to give everybody one. (well, the ladies at least).

not really sure about the rest, depends on the money situation, things are pretty tight right now.

for extended familiy - i normally just make a humongous amount of christmas cookies and give each separate household (we have a ton between our two families) a big plate of cookies. its always a BIG hit, and honestly much more appreciated that some random presents or gift cards in my family. though, i usually do give all the kids/cousins/neices/nephews at least a little something, like an ornament or little craft toy or something.

  • The only person we have figured out is MIL. We are going to get her a Kindle. She reads so much so it will be a good gift for her. Not sure about anyone else. I found a few things on pinterest that I might try to make. I know pinned a homemade body scrub. We'll see.

  • I have no clue about gifts right now....

For my MIL and SIL I'll get them some candles from my store that I know they like but I don't know what else.

Idk for my parents....my dad has a kindle and my mom is going to get one, so I might get them both some Amazon gift cards.

H really wants the new iPhone and a laptop so I'm going to think about those. There's also a print of a painting we saw when we were on our honeymoon that he really wants that I'm going to get him.

  • We are keeping things on the cheap side this year.  With the exception of nieces and nephews, we are giving everyone handmade ornaments and candy.  I'm thinking we will probably do Oreo Truffles for everyone.  I have 4 sisters, DH has 3 plus add in parents, grandparents, nieces and nephews, it just gets too expensive.  And our family just keeps getting bigger!  My oldest sister is due in December with nephew number 4!
