Pregnancy & peanuts

The media is making a big deal about Kate Middleton refusing a peanut butter & saying that means she is pregnant.

I had never heard about avoiding peanut based products during pregnancy....anyone have an opinion on this?  I've been eating lots of pb for the protein, so now I'm wondering!

Re: Pregnancy & peanuts

  • That's the first I've heard of it. To me the media is always going crazy about one thing or another. Seems to me they just want to find something so that they can say that she is pregnant whether or not it's true is a different story.

  • I think rumor is if you eat peanuts while pg your baby is more prone to gain a peanut allergy. I dont think theres much truth to it though. I eat alot of pb for the protein too.

There was a theory linking it to allergies that has been disproven.

  • they "theory" is that is you have a family history of immediate family members with peanut allergies, that you should eliminate peanuts during pregnancy to lower your chance off having a child with a peanut allergy. The same is said for women who have prior children with dairy and soy allergies-eliminate dairy and soy during 3rd tri (only minimum consumption through 1st and 2nd).

it's a theory, no proven fact.
