The first episode didn't make it clear that we were going back in time (obviously I caught on) but how far back is it going? Do you think the first episode scene is where the show will begin to conclude? I wonder how many seasons they can make from this show.

The first scene in the pilot was from the end of the summer.   The show then picked up in "real time" at the beginning of the summer.  I would assume that season one will end at the end of the summer.   Of course there are flashbacks within each episode as well, but that's the basic timeline.

As long as the seasons are good, I'm perfectly happy with just 1 or 2. Either way, I think I read somewhere they they plan to eventually take it into the city? So maybe she gets away from Daniel's shooting and continues her revenge throughout the rest of the year(s)? 

Oo, what if the initial scene is actually two or three summers from now? It didn't necessarily say it was at the end of this summer, did it? The pilot was too long ago.

At the beginning of the pilot episode where Victoria is giving the engagement speech about Emily & Daniel, she makes a comment about how they have only known Emily a short time. So the show then back tracks to the beginning of that summer.

Right after the flash back to the engagement party when the screen switches to the realtor showing Emily the house, it says "Five Months Earlier" on the bottom of the screen.

Thanks I must have missed it. That it's a pretty quick engagement. I have to say i'm pretty sad that Daniel does. I really like him. Think there is anything around this? Some sort of explanation? Maybe wearing a vest...lol. I'm wishful thinking! It was Jack near his body right?

Ditto the PP who said "5 months earlier..."

I am really hoping Tyler was shot instead of Daniel! It seems to be the consensus on this board that Jack was shown in the shadows after the shooting.

I just watched the engagement party scene from the pilot again.

-It was definitely Jack who dragged the body to the dunes.

-I noticed that Nolan is wearing a red coat at the event. Woman were in red and men were in white, so I am thinking this might be a hint Nolan is gay.

-Emily seemed really unhappy to see Nolan. She said to him, "You shouldn't be here" so I wonder if a) he was supposed to be taking care of something or b) they have a falling out.

-No one expressly says Daniel is the one shot. I know Victoria goes running yelling "Daniel", but Charlotte never saw his face and Declan never said.It could be Tyler.

-Whoever it is, I do not think Emily shot them. She did exchange glances with Nolan when Victoria went running and Nolan kind of smirked at her, so I think Nolan was involved.

Charlotte was saying it was her brother though? Ahhhh! I want to know. I really think Emily should be with Jack, but Daniel is a good guy.

I read that we'll know what happened with the shootout by episode 13, and the rest of the season will be fallout from that.

I think the engagement party/Daniel shooting was on Labor Day. The first 'present day' Hamptons scene was back to Memorial Day.

I would expect the first season to cover the summer only. The creator mentioned that they could move into the city (i.e. fall/winter) in future seasons.

They've also celebrated the 4th of July, so they must be towards the end of July by now...

Really? Where did you find this info?

Shows like this make me wonder how long they can go...personally I would love to watch season after season but it's hard to envision how far they can take the story.

The show goes back 5 months (beginning of summer). I think the show will last and the creator(s) have to have a plan for after the shooting. There are either going to be more players in the story (the main ones have been revenged) and/or the characters start revenge on one another (Tyler being the first that comes to mind-as he already is a total schemer).

There is just so much more that can be done with the story and TONS of unanswered questions. Is Charlotte Emily's half sister? What is going to happen with Victoria? Lydia?

When they went back in time it was obvious that it was Memorial Day. I think they even threw a Memorial Day party in that first episode. Engagement party scene is Labor Day. They just passed the 4th of July so we are getting closer to knowing what happened on the night of the e-party.
