update- Here are some stories why we care about OPSEC
I was trying to look for that one post about PERSEC and that lady getting attacked because of pieces of info she put on the internet.... I think maybe Ojo or Tx or someone posted it maybe a couple months back. I am searching but not coming up with anything.
Maybe posting that again would help illustrate why we care about PERSEC. or if anyone comes up with other examples, you could share those too.

I found the post

and here one story - contained in about post

These are reasons why we care, lurkers or newbies. Not to be mean and rude b*tches. Because for some strange reason, we care about protecting others. Ok? Its because Crazy assshit happens out there in the world. Yes, we know its not probable, but the fact is it is possible, and everyone should have that knowledge and protect themselves. It is not stupid to care about personal safety, and it is not stupid to help others protect theirs. Yeah, we might look like the "persec/opsec police" but trust me when I say it is coming from a good place.

Let's not forget deployed husband's being contacted, people being robbed, so on and so forth. There are way too many cases out there that can be sited. I'm sure BLT could tell you some stories, too. Heck, a class she took creeped her out so much, she stopped posting and deleted her FB for a long time.
It's ok, if you think it can't happen to you, keep putting your info out there. There are way too many crazy people out there.
