New employer wants my old paystubs?
I just got hired with a company and I start with them tomorrow. They called me the other day asking me to bring in my paystubs from my last job. Why would they ask for this? They already told me my salary, so it's not to negotiate how much they're going to pay me...hmm

Same here. I had to do so to verify employment at current (soon to be former job). I told the new company no I was not willing to let them call my current employer becuase I didn't want them finding out I was getting a background check for a new job. So I provided paycheck stub as proof of employment. That being said, I blacked out a lot of info, such as 401K match, health insurance cost because I felt like those were not new employer's business.
If we can't contact an old employer or can't get a response we ask for paystubs, W-2's, etc. This could be why they were asking.
