Hi everyone and a question

Hello Ladies!

I hope everyone is doing well.  I have had an insanely busy fall between school, coaching, taking classes, and just being tired all the time!  But I have missed you all.  I can't believe that I am already more than half way through my pregnancy!  I will post a pic for all of you once I upload them onto the computer.

Everything is going well babywise.  DH and I had our ultrasound last week and it was amazing!  We didn't find out what we are having, but it truly was a special day.

I have a baby related/opinion question for you.  So, DH and I have 3 boy names that we love and agree on.  The problem arises with girl names, we just can't agree.  The names that I love he either hates or just kind of likes and the same goes for the names he loves.  Well, yesterday I was browsing baby names online and came up with a name that I instantly loved.  I asked him and he got really excited about the name too.  Well, we went out to dinner with our very very good friends last night and DH brings up the name asking if they like it.  The guy friend said he didn't like it and his wife said "I love it, that's the name I want to use." So the question is do we cross it off of our list b/c our friends may eventually use it (even thought we had no idea it was "her name") or should we keep it on the list as a strong possibility if our baby is a girl?  DH thinks I'm making a big deal out of nothing, but I don't want our friends to think we took their name...ugh  if you read all of this thanks :)

Re: Hi everyone and a question

  • heyyyyyyy great to "see you"!!!  glad everything is going well...

IMO...if you and DH agree on it and both like it and you end up having a girl I would use it, especially if your friends not even expecting yet

  • I agree with Cari. If they aren't even expecting, it's free game! Plus, from the way it sounds, you threw the name out there first. Since I'm not expecting I can't say this for sure, but I think when it comes to baby names, I'd be okay with duplicating a friend's child's name if I truly liked it. Just not a family member's child's name.

So....what is this fabulous name?! And what boy names are you throwing around? I love thinking of baby names.

  • To me, the name would be fair game. The only time I wouldn't use a name is if one of our siblings already had a child with that name.

  • I also think it's up for grabs. Besides, you said that the husband didn't like it, so it sounds like they wouldn't use it anyway.
  • I agree, people cannot put dibs on a name.  And I agree with Taylor, most likely they won't use it if the husband does not like the name.

This is exactly why I don't plan on sharing our name ideas with anyone.  I want to avoid these situations.  Then, someone cannot say that I knew they wanted that name!

  • I think you should go ahead and use it!  I know how it is when you can't agree-DH and I had a really hard time picking a name we both wanted.  So if you find one-use it!

They aren't even expecting yet and they may not even have a girl-and plus if the husband doesn't like it they probably won't use it.  It would suck if you guys didn't use it and then they never used it either!
  • thanks everyone for the opinions :)
