Like someone on the first interview?

I am in my second year of a job were I am in charge of hiring. I have only had to hire 2 people so far. A new position opened up and I think the first person who interviewed would be perfect for the job. I'm going through with calling references, but does anyone have advice on not even contiuing to interview other candidates?

I think it depends on the policies of your company.  I've applied for positions with companies where they need five or more candidates.  I've also been the only candidate.

I would interview at least two more people.  You never know, one of those subsequent people could be even better, or they'll be obviously lacking and make you even more confident of your decision.  If nothing else, if Person #1 ends up being a flake and people come questioning you why you hired them, you don't want them to additionally find out that you didn't interview anybody else.
