Goodwill doesn't take toys

Big boo on them. H went to drop off 2 big bags full of B's baby toys and they wouldn't take them. :(

Re: Goodwill doesn't take toys

  • Do you know of a local women's shelter in your area?

Also, look into giving it to a church with a missionary program.

  • Yeah I'm looking into a women's shelter. I have to do some googling because I don't know of any but I'm sure there are some.

  • IME, there are locations that take only clothing and locations that take housewares, toys, shoes, etc too.  Same thing with salvation army.

Also, try local thrift stores and secondhand baby stores.

  • I think they do around here because I know people who have purchased toys at Goodwill.

We have quite a few consignment shops around here that take toys...that's what I would do. That way you also get a little $$ back too.

  • It may have been just that particular store that doesn't deal with toy donations, or they already had a crapload of toys to deal with or something. In general I think Goodwill takes toys (the ones around here have them in the store, anyway)..

I think dropping them off at a woman's shelter or something like that is a good idea.

  • Yeah, I think it's because of the issues with lead and chemicals in the paint. There are also some pre-schools that might take them.
  • Yeah -- try charities and if all else fails, hold a tag sale.:)

Maybe donate the money to charity, if there's a pretty good chunk of change you get from the proceeds.
  • My Goodwill takes boxed toys, but they don't take loose ones like stuffed animals.
