How was your weekend, ladies?

I spent it in Chicago and had a great time hanging out with my college roommate, her DH, and their adorable almost-1-year-old.  Not surprisingly, I ate my way through the weekend as Chicago has an amazing restaurant scene.  Xoco, Girl & the Goat, Lula Cafe, and  Art of Pizza are some of the places where we blew our food budget Stick out tongue

Tell me what you did this weekend!

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: How was your weekend, ladies?

  • I'm envious of your weekend! That sounds fantastic.

I did... very little. A bit of gym time, a bit of healthy cooking/baking for this week, and a lot of watching netflix on the couch. :)

  • We had a wonderful weekend!

It started off free of commitment, but Saturday we ended up going to SF for the farmers market with Dh's cousin and Fiance. Then we all had a small lunch at The Slanted Door. After Dh and I went to Gap to buy me a few tops, my pre-pregnancy clothes just weren't cuttin it anymore.

Sunday: we lounged around the house and did some chores but took it easy.

     I love weekends! =)

  • It was a busy weekend. Saturday we headed to Petaluma for my certification test. After that, we headed to SF to help my SIL and BIL move. Of course while we headed to SF, it began to pour.all.the.way.there. So we opted to go out to dinner and just hang out.

Oh while DH was waiting for me while I took my test, he saw some deer, turkeys and a jack rabbit!!

Yesterday was moving and packing. My SIL had to take it easy since she is 26ish weeks? and is on limited bedrest. We still had a good time catching up.

DH and I realized we drove through all 9 Bay Area counties this weekend. Not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing.

  • We had a busy weekend as well!

Saturday morning was spent getting a new tire for my car (oh, how fun) because the old one was toast.

Then Saturday evening we attended a charity event that I help with every year, for an organization that friends of mine started a few years ago.  It was a great night, and I think we surpassed our fundraising goal again this yer!  So great!  Which means a "Ronald McDonald House" type property for families of babies in the NICU.

Sunday was a lazy day, doing household chores and watching TV.

We were in Chicago too! So random...I wonder if we passed each other in our travels?!

Where did you stay? and more importantly, what did you think of The Girl and the Goat? We didn't book it early enough this trip, but I did read that she is opening a second Chicago restaurant in the spring. We're planning on heading back out to check it out next year. :)

What did you think of Xoco?

Really?!  Aw man, we would have totally met up with you guys if we'd known!

We stayed in Logan Square with my college roommate.  I love her neighborhood.  We didn't do much for activities on this trip besides eat, hahaha!  I'm out here several times a year though and have done some of the big tourist things before.  What did you guys do?

Girl & the Goat was overall very good.  The pig face was my favorite dish.  Sounds weird, I know, but it's not like there was literally a pig face staring at you from the plate and it was delicious.  Some of the other things I didn't like as much (e.g. the octopus had an overly burnt taste), but I'd definitely go back so I can try more!  I hadn't heard she's opening another restaurant, I'll have to keep an eye out!

Xoco is awesome.  It's my second time there and we actually missed breakfast by about 15 minutes but they still served empanadas, churros, and their coffee, which are some of my favorite items so it was all good.  The churros are seriously a little bit of fried, sweet, crispy heaven and so dangerous! :)

  • I had a blast. Friday and Saturday I attended Foodbuzz and got to meet a bunch of bloggers from all over.

Sunday dh, and friend, and I went to SF Skifest at Fort Mason then my coworker/friend hosted a Sabra hummus party.

    Monday was rough. Still tired!

We met our midwestern friends out there, one of whom is pregnant and not her normal foodie self, so we kept it low key. We had a great brunch at Eggsperience, but dinnerwise, we kept it simple. we did the Architecture Boat Cruise and had a blast at Second City. We did some shopping and really just had fun hanging out.

We'll do the Girl and the Goat in the spring when we head back out. The meal we had there was my second favorite meal that we've ever had.

Chicago is actually near the top of our list for a possible relocation. :)

  • Funny you should say that about Chicago, A, as I just told DH this weekend that I could live in Chicago. Apparently we think a lot alike, haha! The downsides are super high taxes and expensive gas. Are you guys actually looking to move?

Make your GATG reservations at least 2-3 months out. I made ours ~2 months out, maybe a little less, and we still only got a 4:45 reservation. Senior special dinner, anyone?! :)
