Re: question 2
The two gambling questions really have me twisted up. I don't really want the casinos (it doesn't feel very "Maine" to me and I'm convinced the only ones who are going to frequent them regularly are locals, which might mean more people relying on services to help with addition). BUT... I think if they bring in jobs and taxes, even in the short term, that's a good thing. And the market will dictate if they survive or not. And the biggest thing for me is that if a cupcake shop or mechanic wanted to open a business, they don't have to ask for a vote, so why should I be allowed to say no if the local town says yes?
I don't like it, but it's not up to me to decide what other communities can do and I'm not here to vote to my morals when it comes to private business. So for now I'm a yes- but this morning I was a no- so who knows if I end up flipping again!!!
