Price of pecans going up :(

I always make a few pecan pies for the holidays and especially at thanksgiving.  Im not sure if I can justify the cost this year  Anyone else feeling the hit?

Oh no...  I use pecans in my winter salads...  I've also noticed in general that all grocery prices have gone up.  I'd say about 15% in the last year - 18 months.

The price for everything is going up:(  I buy all of my baking supplies at Aldi.  MUCH cheaper and the same quality.  The only thing I haven't liked is their tomtatoes.

I noticed it at our grocery store last month.  This state produces only about 6.5 million pounds of pecans every year, but if they're expensive here, I know they're expensive elsewhere.  One of the long bags of shelled halves (you know there are the little bags to cook with, the long bags, then the big bags) was $9 when it's normally not more than $5.  I was so surprised I actually posted about it on FB.

Boo.  Peanut butter is supposed to skyrocket too.

I usually buy both at the warehouse store--pecans freeze pretty well. Maybe I should make a trip soon.

We actually have our own trees, but I heard the buzz in the neighborhood that we are some of the only trees that made pecans.  Maybe I need to put up a "Pecans for sale" sign as I am sure they will help themselves.  I can just imagine the flashlights out at midnight.

Also heard that 1/2 of the pecan crop goes to China.
