So I went to my parents' house last night and when I left, their neighbor had all of their outside Christmas decorations up and on. Does anyone decorate before Thanksgiving? I shop on Black Friday and then I spend the weekend after Thanksgiving decorating for Christmas.
Re: Decorating........
Yes! If the weather is nice...we definately get all our outside decorating up! We don't turn it on until the day after Thanksgiving, but we take advantage of good weather.
I do my inside decorating the week of Thanksgiving and we usually keep it up until Epiphany.
This.
MH and I put up all the decorations the Sunday after thanksgiving. Only because we travel out of state for the holiday.
Of course that hasn't stopped me from sneaking out a few decorations here and there.
I actually passed a house last night on my way home from work that has the whole front yard all decked-out in Christmas! Icicle lights on the house (2 story!) and those big blow up things - about 3 or 4 of 'em including one of those blow up snow globe looking things.
I'm all for Christmas decorating - it's my favorite time of year, but I definitely wait until AFTER Thanksgiving. In fact, my husband and I have a Christmas Decorating Party the Saturday after Thanksgiving every year. It started out with just the family and has grown exponentially - we're anticipating about 30-40 people this year!!!
I usually try to wait until the weekend post Thanksgiving, but we have so many family events once Thanksgiving starts running up to Christmas that (given the extent of my Christmas decoration hoard) we at least went and cut our Christmas tree down before Thanksgiving and put it up. I'm hoping to have the lights strung on before I leave for Thanksgiving, though I might leave that for Black Friday when my husband's at work. I usually shop amazon and the midnight rush (so much fun), sleep as we drive back up Friday morning for his shift, and then either decorate or, more often than not, hunt down whatever gift they didn't have in my sister's size in our hometown and get it up here.
So yeah, while I find the pre Halloween decorations a little obnoxious, I've become a lot more forgiving of those who want to put up the lights and drag down the ornaments before Thanksgiving.
