Thanksgiving, anyone hosting?

If you are hosting Thanksgiving this year, what's on your menu??  If you are going somewhere and bringing a dish, what are you bringing? I need some ideas!

Re: Thanksgiving, anyone hosting?

  • We are having a small Thanksgiving dinner this year. I'm used to making food for about 30+ people each year so it's kind of hard for me to scale back some of the things that I make.

Since it's just the ILs and us I'm making green bean casserole and a fruit salad.

  • We're either going to Colorado or Dallas for Thanksgiving this year - but the hotels we're looking into staying at have kitchens, so I'm making dessert. I'm making key lime pie for sure, and I might make pumpkin pie as well.

  • We are hosting some friends. Not 100% on the menu details yet, but it will likely be:

    Turkey

    Mashed potatoes/gravy

    Green bean casserole

    Sausage stuffing

    Rolls

    Apple pie

    Some other TBD dessert

Before dinner, I will probably have some appetizers.. nothing fancy. Cheese trays, veggie trays, etc.

  • We're hosting Thanksgiving & Christmas for H's side.  For Thanksgiving we'll be frying the turkey.  I'm also going to make sweet potato crunch casserole & do some green bean casserole or just plan green beans...maybe a can of cranberry.

For appetizers beforehand I plan on having jalapeno/cream cheese/bacon poppers, a hot sausage spinach dip served with tortilla chips, & a fruit tray with marshmallow cream cheese fruit dip.

The family will bring the rest--cornbread stuffing, gravy, rolls, etc. & dessert.

  • We're suppose to be hosting Thanksgiving here for my aunt and 3 cousins.  My sister and her boyfriend will be here, too.  So far our menu is:
Turkey & Ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, corn, rolls, deviled eggs, dressing, possibly Outback's mac and cheese, and for dessert pumpkin roll and some kind of pie (can't decide which kind yet).

We'll also go to my parents' and to DH's grandma's for the holidays and for those I usually take a dessert.  This year I'm thinking homemade red velvet cake with cream cheese icing....yum.  Or better than sex cake, it's one of DH's favorites so he may request it.

ETA:  I may also make potato casserole to take to the IL's.  Last year there was a mis-communication and no one made it.  I thought DH and his cousins were going to cry when they realized the potato casserole was missing Lol
