My hubs found out today that he is 100% a good candidate for Lasik. However Teplick quoted him $4500. Not sure what the "going rate" in the Portland Metro area is for this service but somehow it seems high. He went to Teplick because it was familiar, but I figured I could do a little reseach and get some recommendations for others who have had good experiences with other providers.
Thoughts?
Thanks!!
Re: Lasik Recommendations
I had mine done at OHSU with the Casey Eye Institute. Dr. William Mathers did the procedure. I had it done in 2005 and it was $4000 then but I got $1000 off for working for OHSU. Not sure what the rate is now. But I can highly recommend him. the before- and after-care was great and 6 years later I'm still free of glasses / contacts.
So maybe I am thinking that I am being a cheap-o now after hearing your cost. The procedure is FSA eligible, so we're probably going to set aside some funds. Dr. Teplick indicated that my hubby would have better than 20/20 vision and could probably go the rest of his life without glasses. He hates wearing glasses and we spend a fortune on RX safety glasses for his work and frames, etc for nromal life every 2-3 years. We might as well lump sum the vision correction and let him enjoy being glasses free!
Thanks so much!!
