Knitted baby toys

A bunch of my friends are having babies right now so I need some gifts. I have made some baby quilts in the past for some good friends and now it?s like I can never stop! Everyone expects me to make one for their new baby, except quilting takes a while and material can get expensive. I have recently taken up knitting and have seen some cute knitted or crocheted baby rattles and mobiles, but I can?t find any patterns on them. A small knitted project would be so much easier, as I could work on it on the bus. Any good online resources or pattern books, that have some fun baby toys?

Re: Knitted baby toys

  • Ravelry.  Seriously, it's THE online resource for patterns and has an awesome forum for knitting advice (and anything else).  In fact, if you found a pattern you like, it would also link to all the other people on Ravelry who have used that pattern.  You could send any one of them a PM with questions or comments.

Here is a link to a search I did for free patterns for baby toys: Search.

  • I adore this book by Susan Anderson.

Also, check out Ravelry, they have tons and tons of great patterns!

I will second this recommendation. It is my most used knitting book. There are also some cute patterns on lionbrand.com.

Since I love giving unsolicited advice, I have found a lot of cute hat patterns on Ravelry lately. I like them more than toys, because they usually have fewer pieces.
